Are you concerned someone might join your Zoom meeting who is not invited? Anyone with your Zoom meeting link or who enters the nine-digit meeting number into Zoom could get into a meeting. While the meeting ID numbers are assigned randomly, it still is possible. Here are some tips for keeping your Zoom meetings secure:
Update your Zoom app.
Zoom released an update to its app Wednesday, April 8. It has advanced security features and is available for Mac, PC, Android and iOS. You can manage participants better with the updated app. You can lock your meeting to prevent additional participants and control screen sharing and other options from one new Security button. Zoom provides instructions and tutorials about managing participants in its Help Center.
Do not share the meeting URL on social media.
Having the meeting URL link posted on social media or other public sites will allow anyone to join. Send your meeting invitations by email or have your students join in Moodle. That way the link is not available unless someone forwards your invitation or meeting link.
Set a password to protect your meeting from uninvited guests.
You can prevent someone from joining your meeting by requiring a password.
From within Moodle:
Within your Zoom activity settings, select the pencil icon and type in the password you want for your meeting. Anyone accessing your meeting will need to have the password. You can put the password in the title of the meeting or your Description.
In the Zoom App or Outlook Add-on:
In the meeting settings, select the check box for Require meeting password. This will prevent people from accessing your meeting by joining via the nine-digit code or link unless they have your password. Please make sure to share the password with your participants.
