How to Create a User Override

User overrides are applicable to the Quiz activity within Moodle. The most common use of a user override is to either provide an extension on a quiz or to accommodate additional time (time and a half) needs. The primary benefit of the user override is that you can limit these changes to just one individual rather than changing the due date and timing for the entire class.

To create a user override, do the following:

1. Navigate to your course and quiz:

2. Once you click on the quiz, refer to the gear icon in the top right-hand corner:

3. Within that menu, select user overrides:

4. Next, select Add user override:

5. You will then use the drop-down menu to select the student front your course roster:

6. You will know that you have selected the student when no selection changes to the student name:

7. You can then work through the settings of your choosing. You have the option to require a password, change a due date, alter a time limit, and increase the number of attempts allowed:

8. Once you are finished, Save or Save and enter another override if you have multiple students to complete this for:

9. Once you save you will be redirected to the override screen where you will be able to view the user and type of override in place::
