Self Service Password Reset - Unlock Account

If you have locked out your account due to multiple login attempts, you can unlock your account by following these instructions. If you have forgotten your password, click here for instructions on how to reset your password. If you have already logged in but need to reset your password, please click here for instructions for resetting your password.  


  1. Go to portal.office.com and enter in your email address. Alternatively, you can go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/.
  2. Click forgot my password.

  3. You will be redirected to a screen like below. Enter in your email address and enter in the random characters shown on the screen. 


  4. Click I know my password, but still can't sign in. Click next.  

  5. You will need to complete two verification steps before unlocking your account. In this scenario, you will email an alternate email address and enter in a verification code. 


  6. After entering in a verification code, you will need to complete at least one more authentication method. In this scenario, we will answer security questions.


  7. If you do not have a personal email or security questions setup as one of your authentication methods, you can also select the option to text or call your phone number. You will enter in your phone number to receive a verification code.

  8. Your account will be unlocked once both verification steps have been completed.
