Self Service Password Reset - Change your password

If you need to change your password and have already authenticated, you can change your password by following the instructions below. There is a couple different ways to change your password. If you have forgotten your password, click here for instructions on how to reset your password. If you have locked yourself out of your account, please click here for instructions on unlocking your account. 


Change your password on the web

  1. Go to portal.office.com and enter in your email address and password to sign into your account.
  2. In the top right hand corner, click the circle in the top right with your initials or image. Then select View account

  3. From your Microsoft account, select Change Password on the password tile.

4. Type in your old password and confirm your new password. The password must be at least 10 characters and contain 3 of the following: upper case letter, lower case letter, a number or special character. The password cannot contain your first, last, or username. You cannot reuse your last 10 passwords. We recommend creating a passphrase. For example, "The brown fox!".  



5. Once completed, your password will now be reset. Please remember to update your new password on other devices. Other devices could have your old password saved and may keep attempting to re-authenticate. WiFi, email and other office products are common places that may need updated. 


Change your password on a Trine issued computer

  1. You must be logged into a Trine issued computer. This could be a lab computer or a staff/faculty issued laptop. 
  2. Hold Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard.
  3. Click change a password. Enter in your old password and confirm your new password.

  4. Once completed, your password will now be reset. Please remember to update your new password on other devices. Other devices could have your old password saved and may keep attempting to re-authenticate. WiFi, email and other office products are common places that may need updated.
